Illustrated Film Tickets: General, Documentary & Animation

The illustrated movie tickets were designed for the three different categories of film which screens at Hertz Cinema; animation, documentary, and general. The differentiation of these genres allowed more creative expression as well as strengthening the brand design of the cinema. Each ticket has been carefully designed for its potential audiences. The general ticket has been designed with the iconic imagery of Hertz, whilst the documentary ticket communicates a calm and reserved atmosphere through its colour and line work. In contrast, the animation ticket features the day colour palette along with fun, illustrated animals for the younger audience, to create a sense of curiosity and excitement.
Cinema Room Door Numbers

The cinema room door numbers were designed with whales as the primary subject, as it is the iconic form which represents Hertz Cinema. The elements of circles, stars and lines, along with the cloud are used to communicate ideas of a whimsical journey in which each film will take the audience on, as well as establishing a cohesive visual language across all assets. In its application, the illustrations will be printed on a clear, glass signage, which will enhance the elegant and dreamy atmosphere of the illustrations.

Secondary Poster for Younger Audience

The second promotional poster is an iteration which could work well for a younger audience.
Wayfinding Signage

The candy bar sign features an octopus which holds different foods you can find at the bar. The octopus allows a clever use of its forms, whilst expanding the overall visual language beyond just whales. The application of the illustration is intended on an arch shaped signage, for its soft lines.
Coaster Set

A coaster set has been designed to introduce more sea animal whilst strengthening the brand design and story.
Branded Uniform

The branded uniform is designed with a minimal aesthetic, to ensure it remains suitable for all individuals regardless of age, gender and background. Instead of using the logo, the tagline is used as the primary type form to spread the conceptual intention of Hertz to the audience.
The work was designed in response to a university brief, which asked to develop illustrations for brand and spatial applications.
